The Megaro Eatery is a vibrant, all-day grill restaurant at the heart of London’s King’s Cross.
The Megaro, a design hotel, is located just opposite St Pancras International and within the hotel you will find the The Megaro Eatery. They serve everything from breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner.
We visited Megaro for their brunch on a Saturday afternoon. Since The Megaro is also a hotel one kind of assumed that the restaurant would be in style with that hotel lounge feeling. But not at all, The Megaro Eatery restaurant was very young, chic and, for the lack of better word; cool. It felt like being at some hip, trendy cafe in Shoreditch.
The four of us sat down and decided to go for the “free flow prosecco”. A very good choice, our glasses was being topped up through the entire brunch. There is also an option of choosing unlimited Champagne for the ones celebrating.
Since we’ve read that Megaro work closely with the best regional suppliers with top-quality meat we went very meaty. We ordered: British Rump Steak with homemade tripple cooked chips, the Bucc Burger served with Truffle mayo, tomato and chips, the Complete Italomaniac with parma ham, poached eggs, burrata, cannellini bean stew, house focaccia. We didn’t all go meaty though, our vegetarian friend went for a Grilled Pumpkin with Goats curd and quinoa.
And the verdict is as follows: Excellent. The meat really held up to the high standard, it simply melted in the mouth and the vegetarian option was filling and delicious. The food, in contrast to the venue, was very classical. Perhaps it would have been fun with some innovation to match the venue, but all in all, it was lovely.
Of course we could not leave without tasting the pancakes, we went for the Blueberry pancakes and the banana pancakes with salted caramel. The blueberry pancakes were really good but it could not beat the banana ones that were out of this world. Go to Megaro Eatery and get the banana pancakes, we promise you won’t regret it.
In conclusion, we really enjoyed our time at Megaro Eatery, the vibe was good, the food was really good and affordable, the venue was spacious but still intimate and the service excellent. Also, they played some really good RnB music – so kudos to the brilliant DJ they had hired in.
